9/9/24 - The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning

 Bom Dia everyone. Tudo Bem? 

This week has been crazy. From singing in a massive choir to being out past lights out (it wasn't my fault). 

I like in person MTC a lot more than at home MTC. Home MTC was a good transition period, but I wouldn't want to do all 6 weeks on it.  

The MTC is pretty amazing. And the food is better than expected. Only because I thought it was going to be terrible. The murals and building here are so much better in person. The spirit here is so strong. It's so great to be surrounded by people who share my same purpose, which is in line with Christ's. 

I've met a couple people that I know here. Elder Richins, Elder Rowley, Sister Stanworth, and Sister Jacobson

There arn't many people going to my mission. So far I've only met 5 others going to São Paulo Sul. My comp, Elder Woodward, one of the Sisters in my district, Sister Brown, and then 3 other elders that I met today. 

The spirit has been so strong here. Through the devotionals, classes, district descussions, personal and companion study. 

The reason for the title is we have had the fire alarm in my residance hall go off twice in the last two days. The first time was at around 11pm Saturday night while most Elders were sleeping or about to sleep. The alarm went off and we had to filter out to the sidewalk outside. After a while, to keep us entertained, some of the Elders started singing hymns and everyone joined in and it turned into a mosh pit sing hymns, including but not limited to Popcorn Popping on the Aprocot Tree. It was a party. Also the reason I was out past lights out. The second time it went off before we got back to the rooms and we were more anoyed than anything because we thought someone did it to recreate the night before.

A spiritual thing to end on was our devotional Sunday night. President Calderwood and his wife had a devotional with videos from a talk from Elder Bednar. The main thing that I got from it is that we have to keep moving forward, even if we don't think we are being led by the spirit. If we are living the best lives we can and keeping the covenants we have made with our Father in Heaven everything will work out for the plan that He has for us.
